Flight anxiety
Flight anxiety is a strong fear of flying or being on an aircraft. People with it may feel panic during turbulence, dread the days before a trip, or avoid flying altogether — sometimes turning down work, holidays, or family visits because of it.
Treatment usually centres on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to reshape frightening thoughts about flight, paired with gradual exposure — often supported by breathing and relaxation techniques or virtual-reality flight simulations. Many people feel confident enough to fly again after just a few structured sessions.
